The Voice of lift Crafts and SMEs in Europe

EFESME, together with its members and experts, carries out a wide range of activities in support of SMEs, and not only from a technical-normative point of view. The areas in which EFESME is currently involved concerns the defence and promotion of SMEs in the technical-normative field, digitalisation and cybersecurity in lift systems, as well as the constant commitment to develop standards and norms that are SME friendly, and to encourage an increasing participation of SMEs.

Other activities that see the Federation involved, and that will be the basis for future projects in the years to come are:

The development of a more entrepreneurial society, in which SMEs play an even more fundamental role;
More and more SMEs friendly standards;
A true implementation of the single market, in which SMEs can thrive;
Safer and more highly qualified personnel, to support SMEs in their daily work;
Support for digitalisation, a tool increasingly present in everyday work.

EFESME is the European SMEs voice in the lift industry, representing and defending at EU level the interests of SMEs operating in the lift business.

Thanks to its national members, EFESME speaks for installers, contractors, manufacturers and/or component producers, taking their voice at European and international level.

Objectives:

01
To open dialogue with other European organisations from the lift or related sectors, in drafting shared political and technical positions for submission to European Institutions as a “sole voice” of the lift sector.
02
To encourage the active participation of SMEs in the decision making processes, whether at national, European, international, technical (standardisation) or political level.
03
To develop functional actions in support of the establishment of National SME Associations, where they are still not-existent, in order to provide the necessary assistance to successfully cope with EU methodology and structure.
04
To set up an information exchange framework encouraging a permanent dialogue among its members.
05
To promote the collaboration and cooperation with other European actors, and to create networks to support SMEs.
06
To work with European institutions to promote SMEs friendly legislation and decision making.
07
To define common initiatives between member organisations in order to promote national debates on European issues.

Who can join?

National SMEs Associations from the European Economic Area that are legally established and pre-eminently operating in the lift sector or in related services. They are considered FULL MEMBERS.

All the essential information on EFESME in a handy brochure. Download the document to know in brief who we are, what we do, and why – but for lift SMEs, of course!

EFESME is a member of Small Business Standards (SBS), the Association of European SMEs in standardisation, co-funded by the European Commission and EFTA.

Since 2017, EFESME works closely with SBS to ensure that the interests of the lift SMEs are represented in standardisation at European and international level. The lifts have indeed been identified as a sector that is particularly impacted by standards and the lack SME participation in the standards drafting process, and thus require a specific focus.

Every year, EFESME appoints 3 qualified SME experts, and develops with SBS a wide range of activities to inform and train lift SMEs all around Europe. Some of these activities, such the events and the seminars, are open to all lift SMEs, and the deliverables developed together are available on the EFESME and SBS website
