Measure the impact of relevant European provisions on lift SMEs

As part of SBS Sectoral Approach, EFESME established a table to list all the relevant standards and Directives affecting the lift sector, in order to be able to monitor them on a national level. The rationale behind this table was to make available a comprehensive overview of their status in both the EU and the EFTA countries, including information about their transposition, translation, and implementation. The most relevant directives and standards were selected for this exercise, in total two Directives and eight standards: Lifts Directive 2014/33/EU and Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, and  the standards EN 81-20, EN 81-21, EN 81-28, EN 81-50, EN 81-70, EN 81-72, EN 81-73, and EN 81-77. In the framework of monitoring the above-mentioned Directives and standards, SBS and EFESME have regularly asked the EU member states and the EFTA countries if any development has taken place. These inputs are collected by contacting the EFESME’s members, located in fourteen countries, as well as the National Standardisation Bodies (NSBs) in EU and EFTA countries, the Permanent Representations to the European Union (PermRep) and the national Chambers of Commerce of the Member States of the EU and EFTA. Contacts are made every quarter for the purpose of updating the table. Here below you will find quarterly reports summarizing all the inputs received from the various actors contacted, as well as tables on standards and directives monitored.
