The European Commission has opened two public consultation on energy Efficiency and Retail Markets. The first consultation is open from 03/02/2014 to 28/04/2014 and will treat energy efficiency and target Public authorities, Member States authorities, private organisations, industry associations, SMEs, Consultancies, other relevant stakeholders and Citizens. The aim of this public consultation is to seek the opinions of all stakeholders on the issues related to energy efficiency policies and measures for 2020 and 2030.  Particularly, the replies submitted to this consultation will provide an important input to the review of progress towards the 2020 energy efficiency target under Article 3(2) of the Energy Efficiency Directive 2012/27/EU. The second consultation is on retail markets and will be open from 2/01/2014 to 17/04/2014 for Consumer organisations, public authorities, regulators, network operators, environmental NGOs, industry associations and enterprises, in particular SMEs, other relevant stakeholders, and citizens. The consultation aims to gather opinions of stakeholders on different aspects of the retail segment of the energy market and addresses key issues such as market design and market rules, rights and obligations of market actors, competition and costs, the availability and use of new, smarter technologies and services, demand side participation and efficient use of energy. The outcomes of the consultation and of other studies will feed into a general reflection on the completion of the internal energy market and priorities regarding the retail energy market of the future.
